Jamaica achieved 60% progress in the fulfillment of the sexual and reproductive health and rights commitments assumed by the government in the Montevideo Consensus. Although this percentage may appear reasonable for a first measurement, it is important to acknowledge that this social monitoring exercise evaluates the legal, political, and programmatic framework, and does not measure implementation.

In general terms Jamaica is close to the regional average. The following aspects are highlighted: Progress in the areas of HIV/Aids, accountability and comprehensive sexuality education and the pending challenges in abortion, specialized services for victims of gender based violence, and compassionate delivery.
